Out-of-Hours Emergency Call Out

Bromley-by-Bow

Voltify Contractors covers property maintenance in Bromley-by-Bow, E3, with appliance installation alongside plumbing, electrical and handyman work. Before a new washing machine, dishwasher or cooker arrives, check the valves, waste, sockets and circuits it needs so the job can be finished in one visit.

Most appliance installations that go wrong do so before the installer arrives: the new machine is too deep for the space, there is no valve to connect it to, or the cooker needs a circuit the kitchen does not have. Voltify Contractors provides property maintenance in Bromley-by-Bow as part of its documented E3 coverage, including appliance installation, plumbing and electrical work, and this page explains what needs to be in place so an installation can be finished in one visit.

What each appliance needs before it can go in

Always check the manufacturer’s installation instructions for your model; they set the exact requirements. As a general guide:

ApplianceNeeds to be in placeIf it isn’t
Washing machineA cold water supply with a working isolating valve, a waste connection (standpipe or sink trap spigot) and a nearby socketAdding a valve or waste is plumbing work, which can be planned into the same visit if you mention it when booking
DishwasherA water supply and valve as the instructions specify, a waste connection and a socketAs above; an integrated model also needs a housing of the right size
Integrated fridge, freezer or dishwasherA housing that matches the appliance’s stated dimensions, and space for any ventilation the manual requiresAdjusting the cabinet or fixing kit can be handled; a housing that is far too small is a kitchen-fitting job
Electric cooker or hobA supply rated for the appliance; many larger cookers and hobs need a dedicated cooker circuit rather than a plugA new or upgraded circuit is electrical work and should be assessed before the appliance is delivered
Vented tumble dryerA route for the vent hose to outside, through a wall vent or window kitCondensing and heat-pump dryers avoid this, but need emptying or a drain connection

The rating plate or specification sheet for an electric cooker or hob shows how much power it needs. Share that with us when you book so the existing supply can be checked against it.

Measure before you buy

A few measurements taken before ordering avoid most of the common problems:

  1. The space itself — width, height and depth, remembering that hoses and plugs at the back take up several centimetres.
  2. Door swing — whether the appliance door, or the fridge door on an integrated unit, can open fully without hitting a wall, worktop or another door.
  3. The route in — doorways, stairs, tight corners and, in a block of flats, whether there is a lift and whether the building management needs notice of deliveries.

If you are replacing an old appliance, ask your retailer whether they will take it away, as the installation visit is not the usual way to dispose of it.

Check for recalls on old and new appliances

It is worth checking both the appliance you are replacing and the one you are buying against the GOV.UK list of Product Safety Alerts, Reports and Recalls, which you can search by product and brand. Registering a new appliance with its manufacturer also means they can contact you if a safety issue is found later.

Booking the installation

When you get in touch, tell us the make and model, what is being removed, and whether the valve, waste, socket or circuit is already in place. That lets the visit cover any appliance installation work and small plumbing or electrical changes together, instead of returning a second time. Boxing-in, trim or shelving around the new appliance can be added through handyman and property maintenance, and a tired kitchen can be repainted once the appliances are in.

Standard working hours are 7am–5pm, Monday to Friday. The documented standard minimum call-out is £80 for the first hour, with the final price depending on the appliance, any connections needed and the time involved. A flooding washing machine or a leaking connection outside those hours can be handled through out-of-hours emergency call-outs, priced differently. Call 020 3411 1855 or email info@voltifycontractors.co.uk.

Voltify FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common plumbing questions from our customers.

Yes. Share the make and model when you get in touch so the space, water, waste and electrical connections can be checked against the manufacturer’s requirements before the visit.

If the manufacturer supplies it with a standard plug and says it can run from a normal socket, it usually does not need a new circuit. Check the instructions and rating plate, as larger cookers and hobs often have to be wired to a dedicated cooker circuit.

Usually, but it normally means extending the water supply and waste and possibly adding a socket, which is plumbing and electrical work. Describe the new position when booking so it can be planned into one visit.
