What does appliance installation actually involve?
Installation is not always just “plug it in and go”. Depending on the appliance, it can involve positioning and levelling, water connection, waste connection, electrical connection, ventilation or extraction, cabinetry fitting, and manufacturer clearance requirements.

- Waste connection

Simple swap or something more involved?
A freestanding fridge or washing machine replacement may be straightforward. Integrated appliances, older connections, or a new installation position can require extra plumbing, electrics, or fitting work before the appliance can go in.
Tell us the appliance type, whether it is integrated or freestanding, and whether it is replacing an old unit.

Installation is more than putting the appliance in place
A freestanding cooker replacement is usually simpler than an integrated appliance that has to align with existing cabinetry. Some installations also depend on the condition of the existing water, waste, ventilation or electrical connections — the waste and valves behind a washing machine, for example, the vent route for a vented tumble dryer or a ducted cooker hood, or whether the cooker circuit suits a new oven or induction hob. That is why appliance installation is scoped by appliance type and situation, not treated as one flat, identical job.

What Affects the Cost of Appliance Installation?
Final cost depends on the nature of the job. Common factors include:
- Appliance type
- Integrated vs freestanding
- Existing water or electrical connections
- Access and manoeuvring space
- Additional parts or fittings
- Old-appliance removal if required
We can give you a clearer picture once we know the appliance and the setup.
Water, waste and electrical connections
Washing machines, washer dryers and many dishwashers need water and waste connections as well as a suitable electrical supply. Where connections already exist and are in good condition, replacement installation is usually straightforward. If connections are missing, damaged or unsuitable, extra plumbing or electrical work may be needed first.
Gas-connected appliances
The gas connection on a gas or dual fuel appliance must be made by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Mention any gas element when you get in touch so it is clear which parts of the job we handle and in what order.

Quick Answers to Common Questions
Find clear answers to common appliance-installation questions.
Does the appliance need to be on site before you book?
It helps if the appliance is on site, but it isn’t always essential. Tell us the appliance type, model and whether it is integrated or freestanding so we can plan the visit, and we can confirm the details before we arrive.
Does an integrated appliance need existing cabinetry?
Integrated appliances fit into existing cabinetry, so the housing usually needs to be in place and the right size. If you’re unsure, send photos and measurements and we’ll advise before booking.
Can you install several appliances in one visit?
Yes, we can often install several appliances in a single visit. Let us know what needs fitting so we can allow the right amount of time.
What's the minimum charge for an installation visit?
Our minimum call-out is £80 for the first hour. Final pricing depends on the appliance and what the installation involves, and we confirm the price before we start.
